WELCOME TO
CHRYSUS GROUP
Chrysus Group is a veteran-owned professional services company based in Phillip, ACT, assisting clients across Canberra, ACT, throughout the ACT region, and extending services to Albury, NSW; Wodonga, VIC; and Wagga Wagga, NSW.
A BUSINESS BUILT ON EXPERIENCE, LEADERSHIP & COMMUNITY VALUES
Chrysus Group was founded by Dennis Maddock, an experienced mentor, peer support worker, and community-focused professional with more than 30 years of experience across several industries. Throughout his career, Dennis has developed a strong reputation for leadership, problem-solving, and supporting individuals through complex situations.
Dennis spent close to two decades serving as an army officer, where he gained extensive experience managing teams, planning operations, and coordinating large-scale projects. During this time he was responsible for leading teams of up to 250 people in challenging environments where organisation, responsibility, and clear communication were essential.
Following his military career, Dennis continued working in demanding public service roles, including serving as a firefighter in Melbourne, VIC. This role further strengthened his commitment to supporting communities and responding effectively during high-pressure situations.
Over the past five years Dennis has dedicated much of his professional time to working within the mental health, peer mentoring, and NDIS sectors. This work has involved supporting individuals facing a range of personal challenges and helping them find practical ways to improve their daily lives. These experiences strongly influenced the development of Chrysus Group and its community-focused approach.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT & VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
Dennis has also contributed significant time to volunteer roles that support individuals during vulnerable moments in their lives. One of his most notable roles was with Lifeline Canberra, where he served as a telephone counsellor and shift supervisor for more than ten years.
In this role Dennis provided direct support to counsellors handling difficult mental health and relationship calls. Some of these calls involved serious welfare concerns where emergency services were required to perform well-being checks for callers at risk.
Dennis has also volunteered with Legacy Canberra, helping organise and manage tours for children of veterans visiting the national capital. These tours included visits to important national sites such as the Australian War Memorial and participation in ANZAC Day events, giving young participants a meaningful connection to their family history.
Additional volunteer work has included providing emergency responder first aid assistance with Canberra Night Crew, where volunteers assist people in need during late-night hours in the city.
These experiences reinforced Dennis’s belief that practical support services can play an important role in helping individuals regain stability, independence, and confidence.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE ACROSS GOVERNMENT, LOGISTICS & TRAINING
Dennis has also held a number of professional roles that required advanced organisational and leadership skills.
During the COVID vaccination rollout, he worked as an operations and logistics manager supporting the Department of Health’s Vaccine Operations Centre. In this role he was responsible for providing daily updates on vaccine transport across Australia, briefing large groups of staff, and delivering operational updates to senior government officials.
Dennis has also worked with the Australian Federal Police, assisting with training programmes for new recruits. His role involved participating in scenario-based training exercises that allowed recruits to practise handling complex situations such as domestic incidents, mental health crises, and emergency response procedures.
Internationally, Dennis worked as a country manager in Papua New Guinea, where he oversaw logistics and security operations supporting mining and construction sites. This role required coordinating transportation by road, sea, and air to ensure supplies reached remote locations safely and efficiently.
These experiences across government, logistics, and operational planning have contributed to the structured and organised approach Chrysus Group brings to its services today.
SUPPORTING PEOPLE WHO ARE OFTEN OVERLOOKED
A core motivation behind Chrysus Group is the desire to support individuals who may not always receive the assistance they need. Dennis is particularly passionate about helping Australians who may be facing complex challenges, including people experiencing homelessness, individuals living with mental health conditions, and those impacted by the justice system.
Through Chrysus Group, Dennis aims to provide practical assistance that helps people move forward in a positive direction. By combining professional experience with empathy and understanding, the business works to provide services that genuinely assist clients in improving their quality of life.

FLEXIBLE & RESPONSIVE SERVICE AVAILABILITY
Because Chrysus Group is a small independently operated business, the company can often respond quickly to client needs. Dennis currently serves as director of several small companies and remains actively involved in supporting clients.
This flexibility means services may sometimes be arranged at short notice depending on availability. Support may also be provided outside typical business hours where required, including evenings or weekends.
Travel can also be arranged for clients located outside the immediate Canberra area, including regional locations such as Albury, NSW, Wodonga, VIC, and Wagga Wagga, NSW.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT, MENTORING & CLIENT ASSISTANCE
Beyond cleaning services, Chrysus Group also provides support services that assist individuals to stay connected with their communities and maintain independence.
TRANSPORT & COMMUNITY ACCESS
Transport services allow clients to attend appointments, access community events, and remain socially active. Staff aim to build rapport with clients so transport becomes a supportive and friendly experience rather than simply a trip from one location to another.
PEER MENTORING & GOAL SETTING
Peer mentoring involves helping clients identify personal goals and create achievable steps to reach them. Many team members bring lived experience and professional knowledge from the mental health sector.
ONLINE & PHONE SUPPORT SERVICES
For individuals in remote locations or those who prefer flexible communication options, Chrysus Group offers phone and video support sessions. These services may assist with education, job applications, or regular well-being check-ins.
